FAQs

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a system of exercises created by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century. He originally called his method ‘contrology’ as it is a practice of controlled movement that leads to total body strength and flexibility. It restores balance to the body and helps to live and move optimally through life. It is a great workout and can be used for rehabilitation.

What is the first session going to look like?

Before your first session, you’ll complete a short health questionnaire. We’ll review this together to understand any injuries and your fitness goals. You’ll then be introduced to the studio, try out the equipment, and practice a variety of exercises tailored to your goals.

What to wear?

Gym attire, leggings, nothing too loose and baggy, no shoes required, Pilates socks with gripping or bare feet.

Why do you require the Intro Pack?

The Intro Pack will give you a good introduction and foundation to the Pilates method in a small focused setting, the equipment and the way we teach in our studio.

If you choose our Private New Client Intro Pack, you will have 3 one-to-one sessions. Our Privates are tailored to you, your body and your fitness goals. This is a good option for people who are interested in continuing with Privates. We would recommend this Intro Pack to clients who have any health conditions or injuries.

Alternatively, you can choose our Open Gym New Client Intro Pack. You will get 2 Privates and 1 Open Gym session. If you are interested in our Open Gym subscriptions this is the one for you! The Private sessions will introduce you to the exercises and how to be safe and confident on the equipment and the Open Gym session will continue your training in a class with max 4 people.

How many times a week should I do Pilates?

It takes practice and consistency to get results from Pilates so we recommend coming 3 times a week for the quickest results.
If 3 workouts are not possible, a minimum of 2 Pilates workouts is a week is advised.

Why should you choose to train with our Pilates teachers?

Our teachers all have at least 600+ hours of Classical Pilates training. This means we understand the method and how to get our clients real results! Our training can be traced directly back to Joseph Pilates which means we are part of the Joseph Pilates lineage.

More than that, Pilates is our passion. Teaching it and passing on Joseph Pilates' method is our goal. We have seen and experienced the ability it has to transform an individual, bringing energy and zest to their life.

Why should you do Pilates at our studio vs a Reformer studio?

Pilates has grown in popularity, leading to a rise in studios that only offer Reformer classes. Unfortunately, many instructors in these settings have completed only short training courses, which can result in poor-quality — and sometimes unsafe — teaching.

At our studio, we teach Pilates as Joseph Pilates originally intended. Using the full range of Classical exercises and equipment, we ensure our clients experience the method in its true form and achieve the best possible results.
